About Mrs. Nan Westervelt

Nan Westervelt was the Founding Board Chair of Renaissance Academy serving on the Board for three years before resigning and accepting the position of Director of Arts. Mrs. Westervelt has been involved in the arts and education for over 40 years as a creative drama teacher, actress, Executive Director of Young Audiences of Rochester, and consultant in the arts in education. Clients included the New York State Council on the Arts, Rochester City School District, and many other arts and cultural organizations and schools throughout New York State. Providing opportunities for children to express themselves and learn in and through the arts has been a lifelong pursuit for Mrs. Westervelt and she revels in the joy she sees in the faces of our  students as they experience the arts every day at RA.


Mrs. Westervelt has a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Human Services from the State University of New York Empire State College.

Our Mission

The mission of the Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts is to provide children an enriched and rigorous education through the humanities and arts integration leading to success in college, careers and life.
